Hall Life

Kennet Valley Hall hosts many and varied activities from local groups and associations to private parties including childrens birthdays and wedding receptions. Here are some notes from our regular users:

Kennet Valley Community Cinema
Our Community Film Nights have been a huge success at the Kennet Valley Hall.
The films are sure to give you an enjoyable night out in really comfortable chairs.
There is a bar and snacks available before the film, so why not come along, especially if you have not been before, and see why it is so popular. Look out for the seasonal film list.

Yoga with Jeanine Williams
Suitable for all levels – open to beginners yet challenging for experienced practitioners. Join us on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30am. For more information email jeanninewilliams@hotmail.com
or phone 01672 861497.
KVH is the ideal environment for hosting yoga classes. My students really appreciate the peaceful surroundings and stunning views across the fields, and the natural wood floor feels great against the feet.(Jeannine Williams)

Kennet Valley Cricket Club
We are particularly fortunate to have the use of the Kennet Valley Hall itself which, on match days, becomes our pavilion. It’s excellent changing, catering and seating facilities are vastly superior to those of any other local Club. We also enjoy several social functions there a year including a formal Christmas Dinner which is the highlight of the club`s social calendar. All in all the KVH is a great facility which we count ourselves fortunate to have
Formed in 1993, Kennet Valley Cricket Club draws its members from the villages of West and East Kennet, West Overton, Lockeridge, Fyfield and Clatford. Players range in age from 8 to 60 and the Club plays friendly matches, mainly against other local village sides, on virtually every Sunday between mid April and the end of September.
KVCC is, above all, a very friendly Club and new members, both playing and social, and of whatever ability are always welcome.  Contact details are:

Marlborough & District Embroiderers’ Guild
Kennet Valley Hall plays an extremely important part in the life of the Marlborough & District Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild.
Its delightful location, the bright, comfortable and well-lit hall itself with wonderful views and excellent facilities available make it a perfect location for the range of activities and events we offer our members. These regular activities include professional talks and workshops, various other types of workshop and learning opportunities, as well as relaxed time for stitching and socialising with like-minded friends.

Alzheimers Support
Our singing group for people with memory problems has been meeting in the hall for two years. The views out across the countryside are so uplifting for people.  As we sing the sun usually comes out and the view is as therapeutic as the singing! Our members enjoy the amazing needlework showing local scenes and the old photographs on the walls – and our volunteers appreciate the well-equipped kitchen.
Singing for the Brain meets every Thursday morning in term time and is attended by people with memory loss and their family carers.  It is run by Alzheimer’s Support and led by a trained singing teacher supported by volunteers. Contact Jackie Allen on 07776455018

Kennet Valley National Trust Association
We use this hall for our monthly meetings. It is a convenient location for our members who are drawn from the Devizes, Marlborough and Pewsey area. It has a large car parking area for our members and the Hall Committee also permit us to use their car park when we take day trips by coach.
The hall is spacious and always clean. The chairs are comfortable and there are plenty of tables for our summer and winter social events. It has good kitchen facilities and we have been given cupboard space to store our own crockery.
The Kennet Valley National Trust is one of the many local associations of members of the National Trust. Our group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7.30pm normally at the Kennet Valley Village Hall, with two meetings in the year at the Slade Hall in Devizes. We have a wide variety of speakers to address our meetings and organise day trips to various places of interest both National Trust properties and other privately owned sites as well as an annual holiday.

Kennet Vale Table Tennis Club
Table Tennis has a strong tradition at the hall which goes back to 1979.
The Junior Section takes place on Tuesdays between 17.45 and 19.15. Players` ages range from 8 upwards and are coached from the day they join. Over the years many of our juniors have excelled in local junior championships and gone on to play in adult leagues.
Three senior teams play at the Hall, an A and a B team play in the Devizes League on Tuesdays, and a guest club Northside play in the 1st Division of the Swindon League currently on Wednesdays
If you have a child who would benefit from a disciplined introduction to this enjoyable sport, or if you are of a standard that might fit the three teams described, give us a call. Either Colin on 01672 861672 or Brian on 01672 861513 would be pleased to hear from you.
